Atelier 151 by KHROME STUDIOS

In 1980, (a long, long, time ago) David Soonlan and Luciano Baldi started the excellent furniture company, Della RobbiaUSA.   The two were committed to craftsmanship and had a love for Italian design.  They found that by using the very high standards of the top European luxury firms,  David, the quiet businessman, skilled engineer, and designer, and Luciano, the Italian lover of all things beautiful, with a passion for people. brought their unique and differing skills (along with family members) and  started working with family connections who had experience with some of these companies, were able to build the first factory in CA.

I first met them 4 years later as a designer-in-training at the much revered Sunrise Home furniture store in San Rafael.  Annie Bowman, the fournder, allowed me to meet with the sales reresentatives and I loved the ease and simplicity behind the Italian Meta mechanism that assisted fold up.

While Sunrise Home did not pick up the line, I did and went to work as a sub, representing this fine line.

Since then, Dellarobbia has been a constant in my life.  This is a story of falling in love with a family owned business, quality product, and the birth of a business and 35+ year relationship. Every member of my family, every friend whose home was being designed, most of my design projects and more lately, each floor of the build out in 2019 of Salesforce Tower 1 in SF and multiple Google campuses have Dellarobbia furniture.

The craftsmanship and quality are perfect for high use, the designs and customization feed the "fun and frisky concept" and I rarely (actually 3 times in over 30 years and millions $$$ in sales) run into an issue or problem that Dellarobbia did not resolve and stand behind.
